It is the season for study trips. Just a few days ago, we learned that one of the directors of Halo Infinite, Chris Lee, had quit the project. Now, in another blow to a top-notch Microsoft studio, Rare has lost the Creative Director of their new IP Everwild.
Everwild loses Everwild Creative Director Simon Woodroffe
As reported on VGC, one of the project’s more experienced developers and creative director, Simon Woodroffe, has left the project. This was confirmed by rare studio head Craig Duncan who said:
“We thank Simon for all of his hard work at Everwild and wish him the best of luck for the future.” Add: The Everwild team is in good hands and passionate about creating a game that will provide players with unforgettable experiences in a natural and magical world. “
While this is a big blow to the game, the remaining squad are still incredibly talented. Louise O’Connor, who is an executive producer, worked on Conker’s Bad Fur Day and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Ryan Stevenson, who directs the images for the project, worked on Viva Pinata and Sea of Thieves. They were also joined this year by Fable Legends designer James Blackham.
This beautiful title, which promises “unique and unforgettable experiences”, was unveiled for the first time at XO19 in London last November. While not much has been shared about the game since its reveal, Rare gave us a preview during the Xbox Games Showcase last July. The new trailer offered a glimpse of some of the mystical creatures players will encounter in the game.
While there is currently no firm release date for Everwild at this time, the title will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one and will arrive on both Xbox Series S and Series X, as well as PCs. Windows 10.
