How to fix passwords problem in Windows 10

For the past few months, we have been reporting details of a critical bug in Windows 10. This affects passwords stored by the operating system. When Windows 10 takes care of our passwords, it will be necessary to enter app and website credentials on every reboot, which is quite annoying.

In August, Microsoft sources said the Redmond giant was aware of the problem. But, this has not been documented until today, slowing its repair.

After an update to Windows 10, users started reporting that Chrome, Edge, Outlook, OneDrive, and other apps had stopped syncing. This annoying flaw also deletes cookies stored in the web browser, requiring users to log into their applications every time they restart Windows.

This error does not affect the connection to Windows 10, but it would affect Microsoft applications such as Outlook, OneDrive, and Office. It would also affect the data saved by Microsoft services to sync on other devices.

Over the weekend, Microsoft announced that the bug affected Outlook, Chrome, and other apps. The tech giant noted that users will have these issues when they install Windows 10 Build 19041.173 or later.

Microsoft notes that user-created tasks or certain apps in Windows 10’s Task Scheduler appear to be causing password issues.

If Windows 10 can’t remember your passwords, you can open PowerShell with administrator privileges and type the following command:

Get-ScheduledTask | foreach {Si (([xml](Export-ScheduledTask -TaskName $ _. TaskName -TaskPath $ _. TaskPath)). GetElementsByTagName (“LogonType”). ‘# Text’ -eq “S4U”) {$ _. TaskName}}

The above command will return the output of the task scheduler. Note the output and disable these tasks in Windows Scheduler. To do this, just open Windows Search and search for “Task Scheduler,” then make the appropriate changes.

It is not known when Microsoft plans to address this issue. But, an Edge developer announced the worst. He indicated that it will take a long time to be able to offer it via a monthly update.
