The update to Windows 10 October 2020 Update (version 20H2) is available for supported computers, with some changes. This is the 10th feature update since the original release and the second semi-annual 2020 release. You can find all the news in this article.

Although updates to Windows 10 version 2004 are okay, users often find bugs when updating from older versions. In many cases, these failures are related to installed software or drivers, but you can also find failures in Windows components.

Fixed errors with Windows Update when installing the October 2020 Update

Microsoft recommends updating to Windows 10 20H2 using Windows Update, but there may be issues with this feature. Normally, errors with Windows Update are not easy to identify, but we can find the most common with troubleshooters.

Open the Settings app. Go to Update & Security> Troubleshoot. Click on Additional Troubleshooters.
In the “Running” section, select the Windows Update option. Click the Run the troubleshooter button.
After scanning, click Apply this fix (if it appears). If it doesn’t appear, it doesn’t mean it didn’t work. The tool runs a series of scripts to fix common issues, and if there is anything else, you will see the button to apply the fix. Continue with the onscreen prompts. Restart the computer.

The Windows Update troubleshooter resets itself and applies fixes to all of the tool’s components. This way, if there is any corruption or crash of the service, it will work again as a start. After we fix the issue, we can move on to Windows 10 October Update.

After completing these steps, you can use Windows Update to install Windows 10 20H2 update. In the event that we see the error 0xc1900223, there is a problem downloading updates, but we will not be able to do anything. We’ll just have to wait another time.
