Huawei grants grant to fifty young Spaniards under the “ Future of ICT ” program

Huawei Spain has announced that this year it will relaunch its “Future of ICT” training scholarship program. Despite the fact that the Covid-19 pandemic is preventing the course from taking place in China (as was the custom until now), the company did not want to stop offering this opportunity to 50 young people, who can train online between the ages of 23 and 27. November 2020. “The future of ICT” is one of the initiatives of Huawei Spain which is part of its corporate social responsibility strategy, “Creating opportunities through education”. Since its launch in 2013, the program has had the participation of 95 Spanish university students, in addition to 50 new students in this edition.

Through this eighth edition, intended for students of telecommunications engineering and / or computer engineering of all Spanish courses and universities, the company seeks to promote the improvement of the employability of young Spanish people through the training of talents in the fields of Innovation and Communication Technology. If anything has been demonstrated during the pandemic and, in particular, during containment, it is the importance of technology and digitalization to maintain the development of all industrial and economic sectors around the world. It is precisely for this reason that Huawei has decided to increase the number of seats for this edition to 50.

During the training sessions, lasting a total of 14 hours, the selected students will be able to familiarize themselves with the dynamic and global environment of a leading multinational company. Huawei has designed this new edition to ensure that the experience is as faithful as possible to the rest of the editions, avoiding that the inability to travel to the company’s home country interferes with the acquisition of knowledge by the students. . The technical training will cover content related to the technological areas of the most relevant Huawei departments, such as 5G networks, Cloud Computing or Big Data; Sectoral issues such as digital transformation or the importance of cultural awareness will also be addressed.

Boost the talent and employability of young Spanish people

Through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy “ Creating opportunities through education ”, Huawei Spain demonstrates its firm commitment to training in the field of new technologies to promote the talent of young Spanish people, by creating employment opportunities in this area.

In this sense, the company created in 2018 with the Polytechnic University of Madrid the HUAWEI-UPM 5G Business Chair, which aims to strengthen collaboration between the two organizations. This collaboration dates back to 2014, the year of the creation of the educational program “ Leading the LTE Era ”, which aims to stimulate the educational environment through the study of advanced technologies (LTE / LTE Advanced) and to democratize the deployment. of the latest networks. generation. The “Cloud Computing and Big Data UNED-Huawei” chair is also included in this strategy, in collaboration with the National University of Distance Education.

Another example of the company’s commitment is its collaboration with the Digitalzate platform, belonging to the State Foundation for Employment Training (Fundae) and the State Public Employment Service (SEPE ), so that the Spaniards can continue to improve their knowledge and skills in the environment of information and communication technologies. More specifically, Huawei has made 146 new training materials available to the educational tool on technologies such as artificial intelligence or 5G, to promote digital skills and improve adaptation to the Spanish labor market.
