After PSG and Avai FC, it’s now Juventus FC’s turn to launch its own cryptocurrency
After a series of football clubs like Paris Saint Germain (PSG), Avai Futebol Clube (AFC), and others entered the crypto world to launch its own cryptocurrency with an initial coin offering, Juventus, a major team in the Italian Serie A has launched the same.
The club announced this Monday that it will launch its own cryptocurrency “fan token”
The “Juventus Official Fan Token” will be released as early as quarterly one of 2019. To release the token, the club will partner with Socios.com, a platform based on blockchain that engages football fans around the world.
Juventus has more than 340 million supporters worldwide and 60 million fans on social media platforms. The clubs official “Juventus Official Fan Token” will be responsible for the Club’s global fan engagement strategy and increase their audience globally. Particularly, the token will bring not just fans from Europe, but millions of fans from around the world closer to the real fan experience.
The club will primarily use the token for fan voting and polling and therefore create an emotional bond between the clubs and its fans.
“Juventus is glad to welcome Socios.com to our partners. At the Club, we are always very careful and pro-active towards innovation and new technologies. Together with Socios.com we believe we can offer new opportunities to our worldwide fan base to engage in a cutting-edge way with their favorite club,” said Giorgio Ricci, Co-Chief Revenue Officer, Head of Global Partnerships and Corporate Revenues of Juventus.
“As one of the biggest and most successful football clubs in the world, I am delighted that Juventus has chosen to work with Socios.com, and to seek the rewards that our innovative blockchain technology has to offer,” said Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO & Founder of Socios.com.
He also mentioned that his team’s main aim was to increase the number of football clubs tied with them.
“Our long-term aim is to onboard more than 50 football clubs and we hope to inject an additional $300 million into the sports economy over the next few years. We have started at the very top, with some of the biggest names in football, and our ambition is to build the world’s biggest global football community and marketplace for football fans alongside demonstrating that blockchain and cryptocurrency is the trusted technology of the mainstream,” he added.
With Christiano Ronaldo in Juventus this season, it is quite evident that Juventus have taken the right move to launch its own cryptocurrency.
