“Battle Royale” between Roubini and Buterin continues, BitMEX CEO offers to play host
‘Battle Royale’ between crypto evangelists and crypto skeptics continues to intrigue and enthrall us as this evolving crypto space looks to make its place in our psyche. The two sides ably represented by Vitalik Buterin and Nouriel Roubini are not willing to yield an inch in their Twitter duel that’s been going on for quite some time and has been catching all the headlines and attention.
In the latest turn of events, Arthur Hayes, the CEO and co-founder of BitMEX, has offered to “pay all production costs” to host a debate between Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and the internationally renowned economist Dr. Nouriel Roubini.
He said in his tweet:
“BitMEX is happy to pay all production costs to host in New York or London this battle royale, with cheese. DM me if you are interested.”

This comes in response to Roubini’s tweet, in which he said:
“Happy to have a live debate with @VitalikButerin. We can agree on a fair moderator that we both agree on, not on biased shills pretending to be pseudo-journalists but who are PR folks for the crypto industry. I have no interest to interact with @laurashin”
To which Vitalik Buterin responded by saying, “Yeah sure, why not?”
Notably, Roubini made it clear in no uncertain terms that he has “no interest to interact with” Laura Shin, a former Forbes contributor who recently launched her own crypto-related podcast show called “Unchained”.
This is the latest in a series of events which took the online world by surprise. It all started on October 11, when Vitalik Buterin tweeted that a financial crisis was on the horizon and will take place sometime between now and 2021. He further went on to add that the basis for his prediction was not an analysis of the financial market or any special knowledge. He simply wanted to be acclaimed as a “guru” who predicted a crisis. This tweet was perhaps insinuated at Roubini, who famously predicted the housing bubble of 2007-2008.
To Roubini’s point about the proof-of-stake protocol, Buterin said that the “design is basically done and we’re in development stages now.” Roubini finally labeled Buterin and Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin as criminals of “pre-mining sale/scam that created Ether.”
The fight might still not be over and it’s difficult to say who has got the upper hand, but one thing’s for sure, both the ‘Titans’ are not afraid to pull punches at each other and the whole world waits with bated breath to see who is going to be the last man standing.
