Bitcoin [BTC] used to help underprivileged children in Venezuela
Due to hyperinflation, Venezuela is currently facing some serious problems. The country is deep in debt and is also suffering economic pressure from the United States of America. Recently, a video has been shared on social media showing the charity efforts that have been made in the country with the help of Bitcoin [BTC].
The details were shared by a Twitter user known as Crypto For Venezuela. Reportedly, they purchased clothing and school supplies for underprivileged kids with crypto worth around $260. The effort reached 500 children and volunteers handed out the gifts dressed as Santa Claus.
Reportedly, all the supplies were bought at a department store in Venezuela, Traki that accepts cryptocurrencies. The user tweeted stating, “A couple weeks ago I shared a video where bought a ton school supplies and clothing to be donated to kids!” The Twitter user added, “Today was that day! We delivered all the school supplies and Clothing to the kids. Thanks for all your help! $BTC all of it was done thanks to you guys and Bitcoin!”
It is to be noted that the government of Venezuela recently launched a cryptocurrency called Petro, which is a fork of Dash [DASH]. However, it was dismissed by many thinking that it is just one of the ways President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, wants to make money and continue to cheat them.
During the time of this crisis, many have started using cryptocurrencies which are permissionless, decentralized cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. And, the recent incident shows that with the adoption of cryptos, people are also trying to make a difference in the country through the use of cryptocurrency.
