Andrew Yang, a US Democrat has extended its forms of donations to Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies for the forthcoming 2020 US presidential elections. But this is not the first time that cryptocurrencies have been used as a form of donation in elections. Elections in the past few years, have seen inflow of donations in digital currencies. Yang, who looks forward to shaping a better tomorrow, announced on Twitter: “HUGE news – my campaign can now accept Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies! http://www.yang2020.com/crypto Let’s build the future together.”

Andrew Yang trusting blockchain and cryptocurrencies
Yang is a believer of blockchain and cryptocurrecies, and the potential they hold. He believes that the technology can make socio-political difference and stated that a “smart government” should embrace it comprehensively. “During a Facebook AMA I was asked about crypto and blockchain. I think the technology has massive potential to create a more transparent society. A smart government would embrace this and work with it. I would do that,” Yang tweeted.

How can Andrew Yang’s supporters make the donations?
For the crypto donors, the American entrepreneur has provided a 2-minute-to-fill online application form. After verification, the interested donor will be sent a wallet address through email. The maximum amount of donation that will be accepted from each donor is $2,500. However, the campaign has urged the donors: “Please DO NOT SHARE OUR WALLET ADDRESS as it would make it possible for others to make untraceable donations to our campaign.”
What is the crypto world saying?
Yang’s announcement has given rise to miscellaneous opinions. While many feel this is not a viable option for donations, some feel it is worth it.

Some have frowned at this. While some said there is the involvement of electricity consumption and adverse impact on the environment, some opined it will boost drug addicts and some even called it “dark money”.
Another Democrat that’s wants universal income to take money from working families so drug addicts have money to buy more drugs. Yeah no thanks.

Ah yes, dark money, just what politics has been missing!

To skip this adversity, suggestion even came in how to avert this issue, asking if donations can be accepted in NEO.

Some has even warned the election candidate about the announcement stating:
You’ll get hammered by the media for this, because people think bitcoin is only used by thieves and rapists.

But, only time will say how the donation will turn out. Till that time, speculators will continue to share their respective opinions.
