BitTorrent is a popular peer-to-peer file sharing platform with over 100 million active users worldwide. The platform’s wide user base and popularity has made it a lucrative investment for the TRON ecosystem.
“We really look forward to working with the other Super Representatives to ensure the future of a decentralized internet,” said Joe Joyce, director of engineering at BitTorrent.
Super Representative election closely watched
The election, which started on June 26, aims to appoint 27 Super Representatives. They will be tasked with playing a key role in the company’s governance.
Last month, TRON co-founder Justin Sun had been elected as a Super Representative. Other elected Super Representatives include blockchain capital group CryptoDiva, gaming company Skypeople and blockchain information platform Lianjinshu.
Interestingly, uTorrent – a BitTorrent client which is currently maintained by a team of developers at BitTorrent – is also in the race to be chosen as a Super Representative.
Sun also announced BitDogSR as yet another candidate for the Super Representative election. BitDogSR originated in the TRON community and has been an early supporter of the network.
The team has worked to promote the network’s concept and has assisted the community by hosting network activities and producing dubbed videos.

TRON has witnessed a number of interesting developments since the successful launch of its MainNet on May 30. The events include its recent token migration, the launch of its very own virtual machine and of course, its much-awaited secret project.
For now, the Super Representative election is being closely watched as it will determine which players in the blockchain industry will play a key role in governing the TRON community.
