Bittrex warns customers against fake listing agreements by crypto frauds
Bittrex, in a tweet on Monday, had warned its users against crypto frauds who are posing as Bittrex and asking the users for a listing fee. The exchange also mentioned that they are not charging a fee for listing.
“We’re aware of scammers impersonating Bittrex by offering fake listing agreements in exchange for security deposit tokens. Don’t fall for it. We DO NOT charge a listing fee,” tweeted Bittrex.
As a comment on this post, a user Zabi D asked the exchange what the $500k is used for, in case the exchange is not charging a listing fee.
As a reply to the comment, Bittrex replies to the user saying that no listing fee is charged and asks him to take a look at the detailed listing procedure by providing him with a link to its website where the procedure is available. It also mentioned that it does not charge a listing fee on both their platforms- Bittrex.com and Bittrex International.
The user immediately asks the exchange if they have a tie-up with any such company/ organization that would claim to get a listing made on Bittrex for money.
“So any project/company that claims they can get you listed on Bittrex for any amount of money, is bogus? Or do you guys work with certain projects/companies to list the ones that pay quicker?” asked the user Zabi D.
To this comment, the exchange answered in the negative by stating that this would definitely be a scam.
“Thanks for reaching out. That would definitely be a scam. If you encounter anything like that, let our team know at https://support.bittrex.com/ so we can report it,” said Bittrex
The exchange recently announced in its blog post that they are hiring a security engineer. It expects a few qualities to be the security engineer at the exchange which includes being passionate, leading the game of cybersecurity, and ability to solve unique challenges in order to drive the future of security intelligence.
“Security is a top priority in every decision we make, and this is your chance to be a driving force within a company leading the security first mentality. We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of information security. Maybe it’s cryptography, network security, software security, malware analysis, forensics, security operations, incident response, and/or emergent security intelligence,” read the blog post
