China JD.Com implementing blockchain to track their supply chain
JD.Com the biggest e-commerce chain business of China is planning to implement blockchain technology to keep a right record off their supply chain, especially of its meat sales. Chief Technology officer of JD.Com, Chen Zhang Said,
“Consumers in China don’t just want quality imported products, they want to know that they can trust how and where their food is sourced, and blockchain helps us deliver this peace of mind,”
He further says that by the new blockchain-based system their customers will be assured that they have purchase safe reliable products for their family.
In China, counterfeit goods are not scrutinised safely, in August 2016, 319 pigs were found contaminated by prohibited drugs, with the involvement of salbutamol and clenbuterol which is very harmful for human health. But with blockchain involvement it will not be possible as it quick in identifying the origin of the meat in seconds.
