Following XRP, Ethereum launched on Wirex
Wirex, the digital cryptocurrency wallet provider has announced, to the delight of its 1.8 million customers, the addition of an Ethereum Wallet following its launch of Ripple’s XRP. Pavel Matveev, the co-founder or Wirex said, “Ethereum is the second highest-value cryptocurrency after Bitcoin and its inclusion on our platform marks an important step for Wirex users.”
One of the pioneers of the digital wallet in the crypto space, Wirex eases the exchange of digital currencies with other digital currencies or fiat currencies or a combination of the two instantly through their Wirex Visa Payment card.
“Ethereum stands out from other cryptocurrencies because whilst it is a digital currency, it has an entirely different protocol to Bitcoin. Besides using Ether to transfer money. It allows you to execute smart contracts. These smart contracts will have the effect of eventually eliminating the middleman from contracts, resulting in savings for the consumer” said a co-founder of Wirex, Dimitry Lazarichdev.
Launched in 2014, Ethereum has gone on to become the number two cryptocurrency training Bitcoin. The creator, Vitalik Buterin, a 24-year-old programmer, and writer is one of the most ingenious minds in the Blockchain space.
Vitalik released the Ethereum whitepaper in 2013 and proposed “a decentralised platform that runs smart contracts.” Compared to Bitcoins, Ethereum had wider functionalities, is unrestricted and more secure.
Currently, the price of Ethereum (ETH) is $286 and total market capitalization stands at $29.17 billion, according to CoinMarketCap.
The fervor around Ethereum has also been amped up by its frequent use by corporates and governments alike from finding K-Pop stars to being used in the Philippines remittance market, ETH has been utilized in a multitude of activities. Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA) is a group formed to spread the use of the digital currency by connecting large companies to digital currency vendors to promote the use of the blockchain.
As a symbol of goodwill and to commemorate the launch of the ETH wallet, Wirex has got together with CryptoDisrupt an online advocate of Cryptocurrency to donate 20ETH to a charity chosen by the online community. The nominations will come in by September 11th and the lucky winner will be announced on September 14th.
