Former Ethereum developer joins Ethereum Classic Cooperative as executive director
Bob Summerwill, former core developer of Ethereum & blockchain tech company ConsenSys, recently joined the Ethereum Classic Cooperative as the executive director.
The Ethereum Classic Cooperative works on the development and growth of the protocol of the cryptocurrency – Ethereum Classic (ETC). According to an official announcement by Ethereum Classic on Medium, “Bob will work to build relationships that benefit ETC and advance our mission of growing ETC’s development and community. Bob, like many ETC supporters, has been quiet about his support, although he recently got more vocal at the ETC Summit, urging us to avoid exclusionary tribalism and focus on sharing our ideas and beliefs with each other.”
Summerwill will also be supporting the ongoing Ethereum Classic (ETC) initiatives like peaceBridge – a bridge that transfers ETH and ETC between the two networks. While speaking about the new appointment, Summerwill said, “I would like to heal the wounds of the past, and to help everyone get past this zero sum thinking. I would like the ETC community to be seen as it actually is, a strongly principled group of people who develop useful technology, rather than an ideologically driven group of zealots with no technical development.”
Ethereum Classic have had a rough phase with the recent 51 percent attack on the network, earlier this month. And, also the shut-down of the Ethereum Classic development team ETCDEV, last month. Igor Artamonov, founder of ETCDEV announced that the team had to partially due to crypto market crash and “cash crunch in the company.”
However, Ethereum Classic is recovering from all of it and it became evident as earlier this month, ETC Labs announced the launch of a development team to focus on core ETC projects known as ETC Labs Core. The team will be supporting the blockchain and will also be providing tools for decentralized application development, mining, and services.
With Bob Summerwill as the Executive Director of the ETC Cooperative, Ethereum Classic can fly highee. He believes, “There are so many opportunities for collaboration across the whole blockchain space. If we want the potential of blockchain to be realized, we should be working together, not fighting amongst ourselves.”
