LINE, Japan's largest messaging app with a userbase of 200 million users, has joined hands with ICON, 1.6 billion dollar blockchain project to introduce Unchain - to build Line's blockchain network. Unchain would develop decentralized applications by utilizing the resources at ICON. The ICON Network has an eclectic mix of institutions ranging from financial institutions, insurance companies, hospitals, universities and more.

H.K. Lee has been assigned the charge of leading affairs as CEO of Unchain. Mr. Lee oversees development of decentralized applications and does a review of teams working on DApps.

The ICON team believes, "Unchain will create a blockchain ecosystem fueled by a token economy, where the users are rewarded for their contributions to the network. DApp services discovered through ICON and Unblock, a subsidiary of LINE dedicated to blockchain research and to accelerate DApp projects, will be integrated with Unchain. This joint venture takes blockchain and decentralization another step closer to being a part of our everyday lives."

Unchain would bring more users closer to DApps and ICON network. Given the user base of LINE, more people would get connected to the "Hyperconnected World," and it would help in bringing DApps to the mainstream.
