IOTA Foundation partners with eCl@ss to standardize payments and data transmission in IOT
IOTA foundation recently announced its new partnership with eCl@ss with the aim to standardize Internet of Things (IOT) payments and data transmission. According to the official blog, with this new partnership, IOTA and eCl@ss is trying to figure out how to leverage Data Marketplace of IOTA with eCl@ss’ IDRI (International Registration Data Identifier) system in order to allow for data collection across various industries and IT systems.
“We are excited to team up with such a strong and trusted organization,” said Holger Köther, director of partnerships at IOTA Foundation. “It is an exceptional opportunity to shape how the next generation of devices, across all industry landscapes, can communicate through data and micropayments, truly empowering a machine-to-machine economy for the Internet of Everything.”
The blog post mentions that the partnership will allow organizations to collect a number of new information on their products and other connected devices. For instance, data on the current as well as average power consumption of their microprocessors could be collected by companies to determine the software updates that’s needed for the product. Moreover, machines can also request their peers’ attributes in order to identify the machine partner which will be compatible.
eCl@ss boasts of having more than 3,500 customers who are using 44,000 classes and 17,000 features, available in 16 languages on the data exchange. It provides ISO/IEC-compliant standards for classification and description of products and services. eCl@ss has previously worked with well-known companies such as Lufthansa, Siemens and Staples.
General manager at eCl@ss, Thorsten Kroke said, “We look forward to collaborating with IOTA towards the development of new standards of device communication and complex payment processes in the Internet of Things.”
Kroke added,“In conjunction with eCl@ss, the IOTA Tangle offers a clear and standardized description for IoT devices and products, meaning that IOTA and eCl@ss can be used together for any industry transaction.”
