Post Tron’s acquisition, is BitTorrent mining crypto? Company responds
Tron has been on the news for a number of new developments but nothing beats the hype that was created around acquisition of BitTorrent. Soon rumours surrounding BitTorrent to be mining crypto started doing rounds.
After the new purchase of the legacy file-sharing platform, Tron said that BitTorrent will be helping it to bring the internet into a new era of decentralization.
“BitTorrent’s long-held core belief of a decentralized internet are inline with TRON’s values, and the collaboration between BitTorrent and TRON is sure to contribute to an internet that is better and brighter,” according to its Medium post.
Responding to the rumours, BitTorrent released a statement saying that the company will not be abandoning its core product. BitTorrent statement mentioned, “We wish to reiterate that BitTorrent has no plans to change what we do or charge for the services we provide. The acquisition will not dramatically affect the platform, BitTorrent confirmed. BitTorrent stated, “…we believe our vision of democratizing the Web by enabling decentralized, resilient access to information remains as relevant as it was when we started.”
Meanwhile, BitTorrent as well as uTorrent – a software client developed by BitTorrent – have become Tron super representative candidates to help the blockchain. BitTorrent tweeted on July 26, “BitTorrent is officially a #TRON SR candidate! We’re excited for the opportunity to become elected as one of TRON’s Super Representatives.” µTorrent also tweeted on July 26 stating, “µTorrent enters candidacy to become a #TRON Super Representative.”
Though both announced their candidacy to become Super Representatives, the statement clearly mentions, that they are committed to their hundreds of million users worldwide. They will continue to invest and innovate in the BitTorrent and uTorrent products.
