Proxeus and WWF Switzerland bring accountability to donation process through the blockchain
Proxeus is an award-winning, powerful workflow engine and document generator enabling users to create blockchain applications by entering information and framing workflows without the expertise of a new programming language.
Proxeus, established in 2017, has formed a mature technology and has been testing it with a series of industry leaders in trade finance, tokenization of assets, legal & compliance. Proxeus secured $25M as a part of their ICO. It won the Swiss Fintech Award for “Early Stage Startup of the Year 2018.” Proxeus has presence in Liechtenstein, Zug, Zurich, Lisbon, and Singapore.
WWF Switzerland is the largest independent conservation organization in Switzerland and part of an international WWF network with over 5 million supporters and activists in over 100 countries. Proxeus is working together with WWF Switzerland on a prototype solution to enhance the ease and accountability of the donation process.
“This is a real opportunity to use our technology for social good,” said Antoine Verdon, co-founder of Proxeus. “We are helping ensure that the donations go where they have to. By minimizing the system complexity we’ve maximized the benefit for WWF Switzerland’s projects.”
The initial stage in this process is the donation confirmation engine, which utilizes the Ethereum blockchain to verify receipt of the donation(s) from the donor and publishes a confirmation of contribution at the end of the year for tax purposes. The transactions are GDPR-compliant and ensure privacy protection.
“Blockchain will affect many aspects of our life and work. Even though issues remain to be resolved, the technology has considerable potential to streamline processes in fundraising and administration, and to scale up our conservation impact. Hence, WWF is motivated to test real-life applications of blockchain in different areas of our work,” said Thomas Vellacott, CEO of WWF Switzerland. “We are currently running several initiatives worldwide to test the application of blockchain. WWF Switzerland works with other WWF offices on these initiatives. We will analyze the results and decide how to use blockchain going forward.”
