Reddit had stopped Bitcoin as a mode of payment without any prior intimation made to the consumers. It was realised when a customer had noticed the same and posted it as a query on Reddit. Reddit admin confirmed the news saying that their were obstacles with the Coinbase payment method. It stated, “Yup that’s right. The upcoming Coinbase change, combined with some bugs around the Bitcoin payment option that were affecting purchases for certain users, led us to remove Bitcoin as a payment option.”

Coinbase did changes to Coinbase Commerce. Coinbase Commerce enabled consumers to make bitcoin payments. But the change made by them required consumers to make an upgrade as well. Reddit didn’t make the upgrade. Thus Bitcoin got disabled as a payment method.
Christopher Slowe, the CTO of Reddit stated, “We have been looking at other Cryptocurrencies. We are looking at Ethereum and Litecoin that are provided by Coinbase as well”.
It is being expected that not only Bitcoin will be back but also Ethereum and Litecoin to buy Reddit Gold.
