TRON expands, holds stake in BitTorrent co-founder’s Chia Network


TRON’s BitTorrent fever is still on. TRON announced that it had taken over BitTorrent recently. Shortly, after the acquisition, reports have started surfacing that the company’s founder Justin Sun, has taken further interest in Chia Network. Chia Network is a company where the co-founder of BitTorrent Bram Cohen is holding the affluent position of CEO. Now TRON is holding a stake in the company.
BitTorrent made the official announcement on 23rd July, stating: “It’s official. BitTorrent is now part of #TRON. We pioneered the world’s largest decentralized p2p protocol, now we’re joining forces with TRON to build the future of the decentralized internet.”

TRON eyeing Chia Network
San Francisco based Chia Network, is a company focused on improving crypto-currency infrastructure. A spokesperson from the about-to-be launched, Chia Network told CoinDesk: “There has been no license or assignment of rights from BitTorrent to Bram [Cohen] or Chia. All software and related intellectual property rights used internally or distributed by Chia was either developed by Chia employees or contractors, licensed from third parties or was available in the public domain. Chia has committed to open source.”
No official announcement has been received from either of the two companies. Both the companies also didn’t make any announcement or statement about the connection that BitTorrent and Chia has.
