TRON is all set to surpass 200 DApps on the network soon, says Justin Sun
TRON never fails to amaze us and the juggernaut seems to be on a roll with no signs of it slowing down. Led by the passionate and at time eccentric CEO, Justin Sun, the network has covered good ground since its launch in 2017. Ever since the launch of the TRON Virtual Machine(TVM) in October, the network has witnessed a rapid rise in the number of DApps on the Tron Network and it seems that it is just the beginning of bigger and better things in the future. In a short span of time since the activation of the TVM, 3,856 smart contracts are now live on the network.
Echoing similar optimism, Justin Sun took to Twitter on Saturday to highlight the growing number of dApps on the Tron network. He said:
“#TRON has 100+ dapps on @DappRadar and 133 dapps on @dapp_review now! 2-3 dapps launched every day. With #niTROn2019 and #TRON accelerator, we will break 200 very soon!”

As Justin Sun mentioned the fact the number is bound to increase with the ongoing TRON Accelerator plan with $1 million in prizes. Launched in early December, the multi-dollar accelerator plan will empower developers and start-ups so that DApps can be developed on TRON protocol. The Accelerator program is an online contest of TRON with a prize pool of $1 Million.
In spite of all the developments, there are some critics who are not sure of the rapid strides being made by the network. In a recent development that might come as a surprise to many in the community, Simon Morris, who was BitTorrent’s chief strategy officer, tasked with exploring the potential of blockchain and cryptocurrency said that there is “no way” the Tron blockchain can handle the transaction volume needed to tokenize BitTorrent. And Morris thinks there’s little reason to believe the network’s claims about BitTorrent Token.
Speaking to BREAKER, he said, “It seems they’re going in the same direction [as our plan]. But what’s very clear is that they’re going to say they’re going in the same direction, come what may, because that’s what TRON does…it’s basically, a marketing machine layered on a very thin veneer of technology.”
