Upcoming proposals of Bitcoin Cash may plunge BCH into vulnerable zone
PascalCoin’s core developer has informed, through a Reddit post, that with the upcoming proposals, Bitcoin Cash may become prone to attacks. Herman Schoenfeld is supposedly the developer who has made it clear that he himself is a supporter of Bitcoin [BTC]. Schoenfeld has mentioned that he favours the hard fork of 1st August, 2017 through which Bitcoin Cash came into existence.
Comments of the core developer
The developer has expressed his concern stating that the proposals which will be introduced in near future compelled him to “warn against what could be fatal technical errors for BCH.” He is also bothered by the the method in which the proposals “are being pushed” .
Once the trials are relayed, the developer has mentioned about the increase of the blocksize of BCH to a limit of 128mb. Schoenfeld has favourable opinion regarding the safety concerns in “big blocks” and accordingly has elaborated “laws of economics will incentivise miners to naturally regulate the size of minted blocks”. He has asked for the consideration of the “economically irrational actors”, including banks and competing coins.
The opposing statement to this issue of blocksize enhancement involves the exclusion of those who lack the potential of running full node which leads to manipulation and centralisation. As per the opinion of Schoenfeld it is unnecessary to increase the blocksize since BCH is far away from the limit of 32mb.
Satoshi has disabled the Opcodes because of the unstable condition and the presence of bugs. On the contrary, Schoenfeld is of the opinion that benefits are associated with the re-enabling process of the codes. However, he has stated that the vulnerable points require prior attention before the activation.
Schoenfeld also addresses one more proposal put forward by n-Chain which is “infinite script size”. This would assist in complementing the blocksize increase proposals and re-enablememt of opcode. “SV’‘ or “Satoshi’s vision” is the name of the three proposals given by n-Chain. He has stated that the script size which is “unbounded” will be introducing “significant attack-vectors in the areas of denial of service and stack/memory overflow”.
While comparing to PascalCoin process, he has given attention to the consensus voting deficit, thus stating, “Even at PascalCoin, we go through a process of voting to enable all changes … We are barely a 10mill mcap coin and yet show more discipline with Voting … There is no excuse for BCH! It is a multi-billion dollar network and changes of this magnitude cannot be released so recklessly in such short time-frames.”
On Reddit, the post has received a number of opinions from the Redditors.
