Bittrex, a crypto exchange based in the U.S., will soon offer U.S. dollar (USD) trading for Ripple’s XRP and Ethereum Classic [ETC]. The exchange plans to launch the new USD trading pairs on August 20.

According to the announcement made by the platform on its support website, users will be able to access USD market for six digital assets by August 20.

Apart from XRP and Ethereum Classic, the exchange will offer USD trading pairs for Bitcoin [BTC], Ethereum [ETH], Tether [USDT] and TrueUSD [TUSD].

Bittrex to launch USD pairs in phases

So why is the exchange taking its time in announcing new USD trading pairs? “While we dream big, we also plan wisely. That’s why we will continue to use a phased approach for USD trading,” the platform said in a statement.

Bittrex had recently introduced USD trading on its platform. It now supports personal and corporate accounts for USD trading, deposits and withdrawals.

However, only international customers and those operating in California, New York, Montana, and Washington State with identity-verified accounts are eligible.

The platform plans to continue adding digital currencies to its USD markets. Moreover, the exchange has invited any token teams interested in getting listed on Bittrex to apply. The exchange added that if accepted, the coins can possibly be added to the USD markets in the future.

“…expanding fiat markets to the top digital currencies on our trading platform will help limit the dominance and influence of any one token over other blockchain projects,” Bittrex added in its statement.

Currently, Bittrex was ranked as the 22nd largest crypto trading exchange in terms of 24 hour trading volumes, according to CoinMarketCap. At the time of writing, the exchange had reached trading volumes worth close to $80 million.
