Microsoft has released a new feature called “search scope control” for OneDrive and SharePoint users (via LinkedIn). If only we told you this, you would stay the same, but the reality is, it’s new. The updated search experience harnesses the power of Microsoft Search. Make it easier to find users in shared folders and libraries.
OneDrive and SharePoint will search shared folders and libraries
As a reminder, the feature was originally announced in August 2020. With this new integration, users can now use a drop-down list in the search box. This defines the scope of the search in OneDrive for Business. More specifically, they can search for their files on OneDrive for Business and shared files the user has full access to, including shared libraries.
The Microsoft 365 roadmap suggests that these search improvements are now available to all users around the world. Many cloud storage services, including OneDrive for Business, have seen an unprecedented increase in service during the coronavirus outbreak. The changes don’t seem to make much of a difference to the overall search experience, but they should help improve productivity.
