Microsoft is making improvements to how sharing on OneDrive works. This makes it easier for users to share files with groups of people. Simply put, we can create groups ahead of time, which we will then easily find when sharing a file.
Sharing files on OneDrive in groups will be a reality
For this to work, we have two options for creating groups. You can create a family group through your Microsoft account settings and invite family members to join or create a group of friends in Outlook.com, as detailed here.
Once these groups are created, they will be available as options in the Share menu in OneDrive for the web. After selecting the “Anyone with a link can edit” or “Anyone with a link can view” options, searching for the name or email address of one of the group members will display the whole group, which will allow you to quickly share files with everyone else.
The feature is now available in OneDrive for the web, but is also coming to OneDrive sync clients and directly to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel in mid-2021. New options to make it easier for us to share in OneDrive.
