21 people have died after a truck collided with a school bus in Nigeria. Most of the deaths include children. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari also mourned the horrific accident. Police say the accident happened due to a failure of the truck’s brake.
A teacher was also included in the dead
The accident happened Wednesday in Avagu, Inugu province, when a truck driver lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle struck a school bus. There were 61 children on this bus. Of which 20 died, while several others are said to be injured. A teacher is also among the dead.
Accident due to brake failure
These children belonged to the presentation nursery and primary school run by the Catholic Diocese of Avagu. President Muhammadu Buhari called on vehicle owners to exercise caution as the preliminary report revealed that the said accident had occurred due to malfunctioning truck brakes.
