To cope with the increase in infections in Spain, and in the face of the All Saints Bridge festival, practically all the autonomous communities have decided to protect themselves and prevent the entry and exit of people. For this, they decreed perimeter confinements, planned in a state of alert, with a single mission: to reduce mobility to what is strictly necessary and to avoid continuing to spread the virus between the territories.
From Navarre to Andalusia, via Madrid, the regional presidents have announced the closures of their regions in recent days. But just as they don’t all start at the same time, they don’t plan to end on the same date. Next, we look community by community from when and until when entry and exit are not allowed.
The community of Madrid
The Community of Madrid was the only one not to have established a closure perimeter of at least one week, as established by the decree on the state of alert. In the region, the guard begins at 00:00 on Friday October 30 until Tuesday November 3 at 00:00. Next weekend, Isabel Díaz Ayuso plans to follow the same strategy, and ordered it with closings from Friday November 6 at 12 a.m. to Tuesday November 10 at 12 a.m.
Entry and exit from Andalusia is not authorized without justification from midnight this Friday October 30 until, at least, November 9. To this closure is added that of the provinces of Granada, Jaén and Seville, and 448 municipalities are within a confined area.
Cantabria is closed perimeter from this Friday at 00:00 until November 9. If the situation becomes more complicated, the government has not ruled out applying more restrictions on mobility at the municipal level.
Castilla La Mancha
Castilla-La Mancha announced the confinement of the perimeter from this Friday at 00:00 until November 9.
Castile and Leon
The government of Castilla y León has opted for the closure of the perimeter from this Friday at 2 p.m. until November 9. In addition, the municipalities of Aranda de Duero, Burgos, Salamanca, León, Palencia, Miranda de Ebro, San Andrés del Rabanedo and San Pedro Latarce will also be confined.
Catalonia has decreed the closure of the perimeter for 15 days and municipal containment on weekends during the same period. It also maintains the closure of the hotel industry and closes shopping centers and cultural activities.
The Valencian Community was the only one to announce the closure of the perimeter from this Friday, October 30 at 12 noon and it will be in force for a week.
Region of Murcia
Murcia has decreed the closure of the perimeter of the entire region, as well as of all the municipalities that compose it. Until then, the regional government had confined only the municipalities of Totana, Fortuna and Abanilla.
La Rioja decreed containment of the community perimeter on October 23, and now it has been extended until November 29 after the state of alert was extended. There are also closures in the municipalities of Logroño and Arnedo.
Extremadura, Galicia, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands are not closed
Only a few territories have ruled out perimeter containment. This is the case with Extremadura, Galicia, the Balearics and the Canaries.
In the case of Extremadura, its president, Guillermo Fernández Vara, defended that “you cannot close what does not exist. A country has borders, a region does not”.
Alberto Núñez Feijóo, president of the Xunta de Galicia, opposed the confinement of the perimeter of the region, although there are perimeter closures of several municipalities: Ourense, Barbadás, O Carballiño, O Irixio, Boborás, Verín , Oimbra and Vilardevós.
The President of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, has also ruled out for the moment imposing mobility restrictions at any level whatsoever. And the Canary Islands are the only autonomous community that has been excluded from the night mobility restrictions envisaged in the text of the state of alarm. In addition, this is the region that presents the best epidemiological situation today, so they will not apply any type of containment for the moment.
