Sixteen students, out of a total of 40 students from all over Spain with excellent academic and athletic backgrounds, were the winners of the American Dream 2020 program final, an initiative promoted by W2A Management and the Endesa Foundation to help students Spanish to study their future university studies in the USA, Canada, England, Ireland or Scotland.
The sixteen winners of the final, which was held on this occasion digitally for health security reasons, will benefit from free entry and a scholarship process at a university in the aforementioned countries to further their academic career there.
In the act, followed by the finalists and their families, Real Madrid basketball coach Pablo Laso, and former Atltico de Madrid and Valencia footballer, among other teams, Javier Arizmendi, who shared their experiences with professionals and training with participants.
The finalists were selected following a process, launched in January 2020, during which several knowledge tests were carried out, in particular focusing on mathematics and English, the results of which, as well as an analysis of their academic and extracurricular profiles were evaluated by a panel of experts.
Of the 16 prizes awarded by the program, 8 correspond to the Illuminamos Talent Awards of the Endesa Foundation, which are specifically reserved for pre-university students who play basketball.
The aim of the American Dream program is to enable 4 ESO and 1 baccalaureate students from all over Spain to access scholarships to continue their future university studies in the United States, Canada, England, in Ireland or Scotland.
To do this, it has partnered with 300 Spanish schools in order to make known to the 4000 participants of the program their real possibilities of continuing their university studies in these countries, the necessary requirements, the universities that best match their profile, etc.
This is done through an “American Dream Report” which all participants receive free of charge and in which, in addition to informing them of their real possibilities of continuing their studies in the universities of the aforementioned countries, an evaluation of their academic profile is carried out. and after school, with career and career suggestions, based on a personalized analysis.
“We deliver a personalized report to the 4,000 participants that will allow them to make a better decision about their future. And in the final phase, the 40 best profiles from all over Spain pass, each with exceptional talent ”, says Sally Djabo, director of W2A Management,“ In addition, this edition has been particularly complex due to the current circumstances, we therefore want to underline the effort and commitment of all participants who have shown a great capacity for adaptation. “
In the final event of this edition, Begoa Muoz de Verger, project director of the Endesa Foundation, underlined the level of commitment and effort of all participants since “given the circumstances in which the tests took place , it caught our attention the strong motivation of the students, who received invaluable support from their parents and teachers. This year we have chosen to highlight the talent of the students who want to make the jump to the United States for combine their future university studies with their sports career ”.
