The Adecco Foundation will allocate 150,000 euros for the professional integration of around a hundred disabled people in critical economic situations

The Adecco Foundation has opened the registration period for the application for the grants of the Plan Familia 2021. This is the fifth call for this project, whose mission is to improve the employability of people with disabilities, employment being the means par excellence of social inclusion.

This fifth edition is launched at a time of great social and economic uncertainty, marked by the COVID-19 crisis, which leads to the exclusion and poverty of households already threatened with exclusion before the pandemic. For this reason, family units with more financial difficulties will be given priority.

“It is still too early to assess the wave of poverty that is coming, but it is clear that the time has come to act so as not to leave many vulnerable people behind. The commitment of this call is, precisely, to support families with disabled people in a critical economic situation, so that they can continue to advance in their process of social and professional inclusion ”- emphasizes Francisco Mesonero, General Manager of the Adecco Foundation.

This year, thanks to the support of 282 companies, the Family Plan will allocate 150,000 euros to support 100 beneficiaries with disabilities on their way to employment, through a personalized work schedule,

For this, the expert consultants of the Adecco Foundation will work with the disabled person and his family, in a comprehensive manner and in a long-term perspective, with the aim of strengthening their autonomy and increasing their employability. “The ultimate goal is for the disabled person to find a job that allows them to start an independent living project, thus guaranteeing their social integration” – underlines Mesonero. In this sense, professional guidance and psychological support will be combined with therapeutic resources, formative, professional and family “respite” which has an impact on the sphere of professional integration.

The 2021 call is for people with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 64, and the deadline for submitting applications will be open until November 27. During this time, those interested should make a request through the Adecco Foundation website.

Throughout 2020, 1,816 people benefited from the Family Plan.

Employment, generator of inclusion and social protection

The mission of the Adecco Foundation is the professional integration of disabled people, aware that employment is the only sustainable social policy over time. According to Francisco Mesonero, Managing Director of the Adecco Foundation: “Employment is a transversal element which has an impact on all vital areas and which takes on major importance when people have a disability. So it’s not just the vehicle that enables economic independence; it also involves social recognition and self-realization, allowing people with disabilities to feel part of society ”.

Likewise, the leader adds that: “We must be grateful for the effort that the commercial fabric is making in these times of crisis and uncertainty, when companies show their unwavering support for people who have more difficulties. In recent years, there has been a lot of progress in the professional integration of people with disabilities, but it is easy to go back if we let our guard down, especially in times of crisis like the one we are going through today ”.
